"Saturday morning we had the most unusual event happen offshore. We (Jerry Bravenec, Fred Hornsby, Alan West, and myself were fishing for amberjack in about 250' of water (39 fathom bank out of Port Mansfield) in Jerry's 26' World Cat. Alan had fought a kingfish to the boat and was trying to release it.

<IMG src="http://www.thejump.net/fishing/2-fish-6/mako-2.jpg" align=left border=3>Apparently, a mako shark came up to investigate the kingfish, but took a large squid that was on Fred's line (which was tangled up with Alan's kingfish). When it took Fred's line (which parted before the fish felt much resistance), it jumped once about 30 feet from the boat, before making a massive second jump that put him into our boat. We estimate that the fish jumped 12' in the air. He fell down into the bow of the boat, and was straight-jacketed by the console and gunwale (kind of like a calf in a squeeze chute).

We had no means to release him, so we took him into the harbor. It was not weighed, but many people put the weight at about 250-275 lbs. What a day!"
『我们也没有什么办法释放它出来,所以我们就把它带回了港口。它没上称称份量，但是许多看到的人都估算说重量在大约250-275 磅（约220-240斤）。真是牛啊今天！』
Ok question is if this Mako had been some sort of record who gets credit for the catch??? hehehe</FONT></P>
