choose. Now what forms can you buy them
in? Well, as before, progress has been a boon
to the carp angler and you can choose your
boilles in three different forms f ready rolled,
base mixes and dry powder.
The simplest way to get boilles is, of course,
to purchase ready-made ones. Firms such as
Streamselcct, Crabs Catcher and Zenon
Bojko have taken the hard work out of it for
you and have huge ranges for today's carp
angler. These vary in size from smm-- 22mm
and come in all colours, flavours, textures -- the
lot. You can even choose boilles for the
freezer or ones you can just leave in your
rucksack (shelf life) to use as and when
needed. The obVious advantages of such
ready-made boilles are that all the hard work is
done for you in advance and that the baits arc
absolutely round. Also, generally, the boilie
has been tried for at least a year in advance and
has caught well. The disadvantages are that
they tend to cost a lithe more, sometimes are
not quite as good quality as your own mixes
and you doff't really have too much idea about
what has gone into them. However, for those
new to carp fishing, they are ideal.
The second form of boilie is where you
purchase a base mix from the firm. All you
need to do is add eggs, flavour, then boil, and
catch! Again, this type of boilie is very
popular today, possibly the most popular. A large
number of firms offer all types of bird seed,
protein and fishmeal mixes for you to play
about With. Generally, these mixes are
available in one-pound or three-pound bags and
come with a sheet of suggested recipes, so
provided you keep to the right amount of
eggs and boiling times, you can add your
favourite flavours or whatever. These types of
base mix are very popular as they do provide
you With a good catching base and the choice
of flavour, colour and size is still left to you.
The disadvantage, of course, is that you have
to do all the hard work of rolling them your
self and some of these flavours don't half
make your kitchen stink!

to make these boilles from scratch. ObViously,
with ready-mades, all you need to do is open
the pack and away you go! With base mixes
and dry ingredients you are going to need
to combine dry powder With binder (eggs,
etc.) to form a paste. Now that sounds easy,
usually is easy, but can be an awfully messy
and expensive chore if you don't get it right.
