Well since I was ranting about what I hate about fishing, I thought I should state what I love about fishing.
The other morning I was fishing the Caney Fork River by myself and it was one of those great times to be outdoors. Not just the fishing, the fishing was actually a little slow that day, but being out in nature.
I was casting towards a small creek that feeds into the Caney Fork River when a Great Blue Herron came flying by and landed about 60 yards down stream from me and started fishing. These birds are so cool and so much fun to watch, I really like them. Anyways, after several minutes of both of us fishing I turned around just in time to see him pull out a nice 5" - 6" shad and I watched him eat it. After about 15 more minutes of fishing I was watching him a little closer hoping to see him catch something else. Sure enough he pulled out another shad this one a little bigger than the first.
As I was watching him eat his meal, some movement down stream caught my eye and his. A nice size doe came out of the woods and came down and got a drink from the river. After several minutes of watching I saw some more movement at the edge of the woods as several more deer started to file out onto the shore. It was 3 large does and 2 spotted fawns that couldn't have been more than a few weeks old. I watched them for about 20 minutes until they slipped back into the woods a 2 fisherman came walking up stream.
I love times like this!
