Although we have many foreign fish names translated into CHinese, we still have the problem as to how to translate such names as Ji Yu, though Crucian carp is given on the bag of the bait, foreigners still do not know what this kind of fish is, the similar cases are with Cao Yu ( though grass carp is given), Jue zui (also QIao zui bo), ga yu, so on so forth, can anyone provide the appropriate translations of these native Chinese fish? 3kx.

I got the same problems here. Foreigners still have no idea what is Crucian, Chub. However, they all know our Chinese Carps. they normally call Chinese fish "CARP".
